Modern islanded DC microgrids offer significant advantages in terms of efficiency, cost, and resilience. However, ensuring grid stability under all operating conditions remains a major challenge.
Impedance-based stability analysis is a powerful tool to address this problem. It can help prevent stability issues during converter design and identify potential problems during microgrid operation. Reliable application of these methods requires highly accurate and fast impedance measurements, which can be achieved using wide-bandwidth measurement techniques. In our new publication, we investigate how wide-bandwidth impedance measurements interact with power converters and how these measurements should be interpreted. Our results enable fast impedance measurements while maintaining highly reliable results, supporting more robust stability assessment of power converters and DC microgrids.
